POWER FORWARD

My name is Samira Umar Faruk, and currently I’m 14 years old born in Ghana, Africa and currently living in the USA in Durham, North Carolina. I was born in a small town called Fadama.

Growing up, my childhood was filled with simple joy of playing outdoors, running around with my friends. It was hard for me and my family to help ourselves financially and most of all, academically. I found an interest in basketball a few years ago. My family didn’t like the idea of me playing basketball till they saw videos from the NBA and WNBA. They now emphasized the value of sports, and I quickly fell in love with it.

My friend helped me join a basketball academy called Charm Basketball Academy in Dansoman, Accra. Eventually, the passion for the game led me to Finest Basketball @ Cresset by God’s finest grace. Looking forward, I hope to continue to improve my skills and dream of playing in college one day, and to also become successful in life so that I can help those who didn’t get the opportunity to study in greener pastures and improve on their lives…So that they also know that there is a God who is in control of all things.
